Virtual Book Drive

Lead to Read KC has partnered with Rainy Day Books for a virtual book drive. By participating, you will support Kansas City’s acclaimed local bookseller and help start a home library for a student in need.

Our curated book list includes many titles with culturally diverse characters, which make them especially appealing to the students we serve. All books on the list are appropriate for first, second or third grade students. 

Here’s how it works

  1. View our curated book list.
  2. Click the book title to learn more and order directly from Rainy Day Books. 
  3. Be sure to note “Lead to Read KC” in the comments section at checkout. By noting “Lead to Read KC”, you will not be charged for shipping. Rainy Day Books will remove the shipping charge manually from your order before processing it.
  4. OR, call Rainy Day Books at 913.384.3126 to place an order by phone. Be sure to mention Lead to Read KC.
  5. Lead to Read KC will pick up the books from Rainy Day Books and deliver them to one of our partner schools, making sure books get into the hands of our students.
